FIRE SEASON IS HERE!!!
Fire
Danger has been flirting with VERY HIGH the past few days. The
drought index is running above 450. One dry windy day and that
could be it.
Our Team, along with ARES/RACES will be
counted upon to help should a wildfire strike our area.
Remember, a wildfire can strike very fast with little warning.
KNOW THE
TERMS
Red Flag Warning – Means that
conditions are at their absolute worst and a wildfire could
occur.
Drought Index – This runs from 0-800. 0 is
saturated ground, and 800 is a desert. During 1998, we were
running near 750.
Fire Danger – What the overall
fire danger is. Fire Danger runs, Low, Moderate, High, Very
High, and Extreme.
Fire Readiness Level – Use by
DOF, it is like our system, Level 1-5. 5 is the highest.
COMMUNICATIONS
PRIORITIES.
Remember, we now have more
capabilities now than we had before. Our efforts will not all
be concentrated at the EOC, however that is still our priority
in staffing. Other locations will possibly include Florida
Water Corp., Palm Cable,
Internet Services, etc. Getting information to the
public is a priority and we can help fill the gaps. |
NEWS IN GMRS
For those who got their
GMRS licenses in 1995, don’t forget that you will need to
renew your license this year. For more info contact REACT

THANKS!
REACT worked it’s first Public
Service Event in 2,000 assisting with the “Walk for Pets”, in
Palm Coast. REACT 1,5,6,18, and 22 assisted in the event with
help from the COP’s and ARES.
GMRS was primary communications, with a
link established on 2 meters.
CONGRATS!
REACT 8 David Moore has
successfully passed his SAR TECH II test on 3/4/00. We now
have 4 SAR TECH II’s on the Team.
REACT 2000 CONVENTION
The Year 2000
convention will run from 7/26-29/00 in Kissimmee Florida.
Anyone who is interested in attending please contact an
Officer. There are free deals form those who can work the
convention. Watch your REACTer for details.
