Flagler County
Assist REACT provided assistance to the EOC and National
Weather Service during Tropical Storm Fay on August 21st and 22nd
2008. The tropical cyclone came up from south Florida, stalled over
the area and then moved on. Rainfall reports from REACT and other
spotters ranged from 7 - 13 inches. Over 339 hours were worked during
Fay.
Merril Musikar REACT Technical Officer works the
radio desk on the night shift when Fay started to move
into the area. Many members pulled shifts that exceeded
24 hours including Robbie Creal the ARES Skywarn Coordinator
who also helped provide wind reports to the NWS.
Overnight, Merril and also Jim Billings work both
ARES and REACT nets as Fay slams the area. Rain and
wind reports were relayed to the National Weather
Service and Emergency Management.
Sally Horvath works the front desk helping sign people in and
out durng the next morning as Fay dumps rain on Flagler
County.
We caught a bit of a break in the wee hours and then
the next morning Fay resumed her deluge.

inch per hour rain begins to flood Flagler County. Note

Tropical Storm Fay dropped a total of 7-13 inches
of rain and about 4 inches came down in a short span on
Friday morning.
