HURRICANE SEASON 2004 Hurricane
Frances
The summer of 2004 will never be forgotten by our REACT volunteers. This
year Flagler County felt the effects of 3 hurricanes and one Tropical
Storm. Join us now as we take a look at Hurricane Frances, the second
and most destructive storm to impact our area. Hurricane Frances produced
wind gusts of over 80 mph and lasted for 2 days. .

| Frances hammers the area. Here a squall
with winds near 80 mph blasts through. Look closely, you
can see the rain blowing off the roof. |
|
|
| A satellite dish blew off the EOC during
the worst of the storm. The dish made a loud bang startling
the REACT and ARES volunteers in the EOC Communications
Room. REACT members helped move it off the roof in the
storm so it could not fall on anyone. |

 |
| A REACT mobile unit out after the winds
died down for a few minutes, reported this flooding in
Palm Coast. Tropical Storm conditions were still underway.
|
|
|
| Frances brought a lot of debris to the
local roads as seen here from a REACT Mobile Unit traveling
home from the EOC. |
