In 1996 the Olymic Torch Relay
went up Route US1 through Bunnell, Florida.

The whole event lasted for only about 10 minutes but it was worth being there.
Afterward, the Relay Team continued north to St. Augustine.  It was reported that they were "running" at 65 plus miles an hour, not bad for a road that was marked 55mph.  Guess if you are the Olympic Torch and have Florida Highway Patrol, Flagler County Sheriff's Office, The Georgia Patrol, and Coca Cola escorting you, you can go as fast as you want.
