Whale Strandings on Flagler Beach.
On January 12, 1998, several Pilot Whales stranded themselves on Flagler Beach, Florida.
REACT helped with communications and traffic control in this event.

At the north end of Flagler Beach one of the whales that was unable to be saved.

At the south end of Flagler Beach, people from all over came to see the whale.  In the center of the group of people was a live pilot whale.
Workers kept wet towels on the whale so that he would not burn in the sun.

The team is getting ready to "carry" the whale off the beach.

With the stretcher under the whale, final preparations are made to move it off Flagler Beach.
This is how one moves a very heavy whale, with as many spectators as possible.
